Maritime Transport 13th year of consecutive growth

Maritime Transport posted its 13th consecutive year of turnover growth, before it incorporated contributions from Roadways Container Logistics (RCL) into its business.

The Felixstowe-based container giant acquired Aegeus Transport - the holding company for RCL - for an undisclosed sum in August 2014 and was fully integrated at the end of the year.

However, for the year-ending 27 December 2014 turnover rose to £162.8m, compared to £133.6m in the previous year. Pre-tax profit also rose to £3m, compared to £2.8m in the previous year.

According to documents filed at Companies House, the directors at Maritime said that they "were pleased with the performance and achievements during the year" and that "the acquisition of Roadways had delivered a significant property platform for future growth, as well as a fully connected midlands hub in Tamworth."

During the year Maritime also opened its new head office and operations centre in Felixstowe, and the directors said that there were significant advantages in bringing all staff and drivers into one location.

"The acquisition of Roadways has delivered a significant property platform for future growth, as well as a fully connected midlands hub in Tamworth.”

It also said that a significant investment in additional and replacement vehicles and trailers, freshening the fleet, had enabled its Secondhand Trucks division to "perform very well during the year."
