Moving freight by rail has great appeal for many reasons, not least because of climate change targets and the increasing pressure on companies to minimise their carbon footprint, but also the potential cost advantage on a number of key freight corridors.

Our role as a rail terminal operator is to help rail companies and transport operators unlock these benefits by providing high quality, competitively priced, hands-on train handling services as needed. These services are based on having the right equipment and skilled staff available to turn trains around on arrival, safely and securely and to ensure the seamless transfer to and from road.

Tilbury Railport

At Tilbury, we operate the Riverside Rail Terminal providing a cost effective, quality, neutral service to train and transport operators using the London port or wanting a versatile rail connection close to the Capital.

The four-acre facility is an established and proven common user facility and offers open access to all train operators for any type of unitised traffic at the London port.

Our partner, Victa Rail, is responsible for managing all trains in and out of the Railport and their ground staff control all wagon shunting, loading and unloading, unless otherwise agreed, to ensure safe management of the terminal at all times.

As well as providing train loading/unloading services, Tilbury Railport offers flexible, off-dock loaded container storage too with three heavy lift handlers. A team of three staff and three forklift drivers are permanently based at the terminal to run the facility. The site is fully enclosed with 24-hour security.

In addition, with the support of our Tilbury Transport Depot, we can offer a round the clock shunting service to and from the terminal to dovetail with train arrivals, ensuring that intermodal units are positioned where they are needed, in a timely and an efficient way.
