As one of the leading transport companies in the UK, we have an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual with a strong attention to detail.

Working as part of the Accounts department, and alongside the Fleet department, based at our modern Head Office in Felixstowe, the successful candidate will gain an in depth knowledge of the cost base behind operating a Fleet of over 4,000 assets whilst contributing to cost control.

In your role as Accountant, you will be an excellent communicator with both finance and non-finance colleagues, reporting jointly to the Finance and Fleet Directors. Whilst contributing to the production of monthly management accounts and working closely with the project team to implement new software systems, you will be happy working as part of a successful and busy team, whilst also confident working on your own analysing and interrogating trends.

Your role and responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Contributing to the production of monthly management accounts

  • Analysing and interrogating variance trends

  • Review and closure of purchase order system

  • Cost monitoring and control

  • Fixed Assets

  • Calculating and reconciling Hire Purchase agreements

  • Presenting Full Life Cost Model of assets

  • Analysing vehicle and driver performance, including MPG reporting

  • Summarising and presenting key issues from high volumes of data

  • Insurance reporting and statistics

  • Reconciling and accruing Trailer Rental costs

  • Implementing a new Fleet software system with the project team

  • Developing management information and KPIs

  • Evaluating contract opportunities and building relationships with suppliers


In order to succeed in this exciting position, you will be confident and skilled in:

  • Dealing with large data files

  • Communicating with both finance and non-finance colleagues to achieve results

  • Developing successful internal and external working relationships

  • IT skills, underpinned with solid Microsoft experience
